What Makes Self-Care Keep Evolving?

November 9, 2022 by Depression Is Not My Boss Leave a Comment

why self-care is changing my depression

Photo by Jon Tyson on Unsplash It still amazes me that I am allowed to take care of myself. The whole idea of putting on one’s own oxygen mask before helping others has been foreign to me. Or should I say that in the past it has been foreign. Recently, I have made a concerted effort to include my own needs in my plans. This can be seen in my attitude towards things I … [Read more...] about What Makes Self-Care Keep Evolving?

Even Without my Depression, Is the World Going to Heck?

Depression is making me use more self care to reduce the trouble I am seeing in the world

Photo by Paolo Nicolello on Unsplash Covid-19, recession, armed conflict, severe weather events, and rising food and gas prices. All of this seems overwhelming. So, I am … [Read more...] about Having Coffee on The Porch and Not Going to The Gym Is My Self-care Today

Why Do I Think I Need a Day Off?

February 12, 2022 by Depression Is Not My Boss Leave a Comment

Why do I think that I need a day off? Self-care has not been a thought of mine lately, but that is really what I need.

But if I do not act on that idea, then so what? I have felt like I needed some time off since early December. In fact, staying relaxed, and in the moment has gotten harder and harder to achieve. I can see very few moments where I have accomplished this. Recently, I spoke with a couple about my grandson and their grandson. We spent almost 3 minutes comparing notes as … [Read more...] about Why Do I Think I Need a Day Off?

My Self-Care Helps Me and May Encourage Others

November 16, 2021 by Depression Is Not My Boss Leave a Comment

I practice my self-care just for me, and becasue it may encourage others. It is not to just sell soemthing to make a buck.

Self-care means different things to different people. Soaking in a bubble bath with candles all around the tub, while classical music plays softly in the background used to come to mind when I heard self-care. That thought used to make me cringe. Now I see the term as a catch-all for activities that I choose, which give me joy and relief from anything bothering me. How … [Read more...] about My Self-Care Helps Me and May Encourage Others
